I know there's been some interest in the ATT E71X so I've written a review of it on my blog that can be found at the following link.

I read some of your blog and I didn't know that mobile speak may not work with everything. I assumed it would work with at least the very basic stuff like text messages? Otherwise, what's the point of having it?

Did I misunderstand what you wrote?

Good review, I was looking into purchasing this phone. It doesn't look as appetizing now that I've seen a good review with accessibility. There is a similar phone, the E63, which I think is another watered down version of the e71, and it is going for about $229, unlocked.

Still it's a nice phone....

I find your review to be very useful. It motivated me to go to the cellphone store in my area to look at the e71. If the e71x has the same physical shape, and the keys are the same size, then the e71x is not for me. I found the keys too small to be usable. I especially liked the links you posted on your blog to other resources and third party accessible applications.

Thanks for this review.

I'm pretty sure the E71 and the E71X look and feel the same. It's just that AT&T took out or disabled a lot of features in the E71X. One thing that annoyed me when I experimented with it was that ringtones could only be 300 KB or less.

I think I did see the E71X on Amazon.com, available for a penny if you sign a new contract with AT&T. So I guess for the price, it's not a bad deal at all.

To post two Mobilespeak works fine for sending text messages, and the phone has a built in feature to read text messages, so texting is fully accessible. It does work with all the other basics such as calander, clock, address book, etc.

Yes the E71 and the E71X are the same exact phone, AT&T just took out some stuff/added their own stuff to it. and Yes amazon did have it for a penny if you did a new 2 year deal with At&T or a contract extension if you are eligible for that. Great review Thanks. and I am interested in your podcatcher. I did run into the same issues with the mail client and IM client that came with my phone (nokia 6650) from AT&T so i'll try the one recommended .. and and does anyone know if there is an accessable IM client besides the paid IM Plus?

I have the e71, the unlocked one and all the apps work fine with it, but I am using all the apps that Nokia puts on not ATT. I will never buy a locked phone again, I never knew how much ATT puts there own stuff on it. Also I am using talks 4 and all the functions work correctly.

Found a unlocked E7 for $289. I don't know anything about the following website but thought I'd post anyway.
